I come from a family of farmers in Western Kansas. One of my earliest memories is kicking off bales of hay from the back of a truck to cows coming to eat me.

I learned work at an early age. More importantly, I learned that life and work are are better when they’re connected. Simply put, it’s good to do what you love.

Design and story-telling is my passion. I’ve spent a lifetime learning what I do for a living, grateful to share what I’ve come up with, and if I’m being honest, still a little skittish around cows.

Values

Fun Works

Humor (dark and otherwise) can go a long way in building team trust. It can speak truth to power with respect, and turn a late work night from slog to celebration.

Listen

Clients have a lot on their plates and more on their minds. Listening to what they really need is the strongest design tool available when used correctly.

Do the Dishes

A project isn’t finished until the results are gathered, synthesized and measured. Without an honest recap, there’s little to build from for the next big thing.

Sell Sleep

Everyone you work with, from clients to co-workers need to know that their concerns are your top priorities. Trust is the real deliverable.

Fail Often

Every great result comes from a series of spectacular ideas that miss the mark. Don’t take it personally. Option C looked great…but.

Process Chaos

Good systems takes some of the emotion out of the mix. Great systems flex to meet any immediate need. No one likes the DMV.
